"if anyone wishes to come after Me..." - Jesus the Christ

JC & Melanie met in February, 2012. JC was a professional fisherman, living in California. He wanted to "deck out" his boat with the word of God to share with his friends & customers. JC searched the internet for Scripture decals. On February 14, he placed his order, and a few days later he called the company regarding shipping. Melanie, the owner of the company, lived together with her young son Jacob in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She was a sign maker & home schooler.

Melanie liked the enthusiasm she heard in the voice of her customer. JC spoke zealously of his faith in God, and shared his testimony of deliverance by the grace of God & salvation through His Son. It became apparent, during their 3-hour phone conversation, they had many things in common - most of which was their desire & determination to live a life of personal sacrifice for the sake of the gospel.

Almost 3 months after their first phone conversation, JC flew to Virginia to meet Melanie and Jacob. By that time, JC & Melanie knew God had brought them together to be one in Christ. From that point on, it was just a matter of figuring out the details of the Lord's plan.

Months later, in October, after JC had sold his boat and Melanie had sold her house, JC flew again to Virginia. A few days after his arrival, he & Melanie became missionaries and went on a 3-week trip to the impoverished country of Haiti. Afterwards, they were more determined than ever to deny themselves, put off the riches of the world, and follow after Jesus.

On February 7 - almost one year after they met - JC & Melanie entered into a marriage covenant with one another, devoted as one flesh to Christ & His work. Three months later, on May 10, 2013, JC & Melanie began a walk across America to share with others the hope & redemption they have found through Jesus Christ.

On June 28, Jacob traveled to Maryland to join JC & his mom on the American Discovery Trail.

This website tells their story.
