It took me a minute to figure it out.

Then I recognized the EF3. Only recently did I hear that term for the first time, and learn what it means.

The EF stands for Enhanced Fujita scale, which rates the intensity of tornadoes in the United States and Canada based on the damage they cause.

Because JC & I have been coastal state dwellers most of our lives, tornadoes and their terminology are new to us.

But, the idea of wearing a message we want to share is a familiar concept.

It’s a common practice, isn’t it?

But, what compels us & others to use apparel to make a statement?

In the case of this nice lady at WalMart, who allowed me to take her picture, she likely has been impacted by the recent tornado that hit her town. Maybe sharing the details gives her comfort; or, possibly, it is a method of self-expression that says, “I was there. It was intense. I was affected.”

Ultimately, her message declares: “I am persevering.”

But, what fuels perseverance?

For me, it means looking forward at what’s ahead. What is to come.

I remember Romans 5.

tribulation brings about perseverance,

and perseverance, proven character;

and proven character, hope
