friendly folks

Aaron & Sierra are a lovely young couple we met while eating lunch outside a small-town grocery store. In their congregation, Aaron works with the youth. He has a lot of enthusiasm for the gospel, and he asked JC many questions about our walk & mission.

After they had said goodbye, Aaron returned to us, offered to pray, and got down on his knees. The 3 of us joined hands, and Aaron beseeched the Lord on our behalf. It was precious. I thank You, Father.

John 17:17-21 NASB

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

Earlier that morning, a local officer woke us up early where we slept indoors at their local community center.

The weather was still cloudy & cool, and he delivered to us the unfortunate news that Marshalltown, the previous night, had been devastated by a tornado.

We left town wondering where, and into what circumstances, God would lead us.

As we made our way into the outskirts of town, the landscape changed.

Along the way we met Curt. What a friendly & talkative gentleman he is! He’s also a believer, and he spends time studying the word. His smile lit up our day.

We saw a sign advertising locally made ice cream, and JC didn’t have to twist my arm to make a left turn and break from the trail.

What a cool & fun place!

Not only did we enjoy delicious ice cream – JC got strawberry, & I got red raspberry –

but, also, the people were very friendly & hospitable.

Before leaving, we went back into the store for cheese curds. We couldn’t resist!

Do you know how to tell if cheese is fresh?

It squeaks when you bite into it!
